Newlands Technical - furniture and interior joinery
Furniture - built-in and stand-alone furniture commisions in hardwood and softwood.
Domestic, office and shop furniture and joinery.
Wardrobe and kitchen furniture.

I first started joinery and cabinetmaking work in the 1980's and within a few years the business had developed into property renovation as well. Later work included college teaching of design. Starting Newlands Technical was a chance to get back to my original work of designing and making one-off and small production run pieces, usually for private customers and small business customers.

Most of the work I undertake is interior joinery and furniture, both built-in and freestanding. I work with hardwoods, usually home grown such as English oak, ash and beech, as well as Scandinavian softwood. I use manufactured boards such as mdf or birch-faced ply for the carcases of built-in furniture, which is usually painted or sprayed. For hardwoods I normally use a wax or oil finish that can be easily maintained by the customer. Work can also be supplied part or unfinished (useful when it is a part of a larger building or renovation project).
